Biblical principles suggest a duty to protect your home, with Exodus 22:2-3 indicating that lethal force against a nighttime intruder is not considered murder.

(Luke 22:36): Jesus advises his disciples to sell their cloaks to buy swords, which many interpret as a call for preparedness in dangerous times.

Cardinal Robert Prevost's politics sat somewhere between Rachel Maddow and The View.

Now he's Pope Leo XIV.

His problem is that he actually believes in what Jesus taught.

Which is?

Helping the poor, healing the sick, calling for peace, that kind of thing.

This doesn't mean the U.S. should allow mass illegal migration across our borders, which, as you know, creates other problems, and is very unpopular with U.S. citizens.

Careful now, some people around here believe in an Old Testament Jesus.

Jesus, as one part of the Trinity, is also represented in the Old Testament.

Friends from South America tell me that when fathers and oldest brothers come north, the cartels are there to pick off younger siblings, girls, wives. No men to stand up, which devastates the local families / communities. So short term, it's a benefit (remittances); long term, a disaster.

The Pope and the rest of us are at the mercy of the same left-wing, corporate media that do not report these activities.

I hadn't really thought of it until I had an open discussion w a friend who is the rare individual who is not going to say "Racism!" when these topics are discussed. We had open questions we pondered, he subsequently discussed it with comrades from Central and South America, and new info came back. (His wife is from Central America.)

Again, ICE has no oversight. Which leads to disappearing tax dollars and, worse, murdered citizens.

Yeah? I missed the part of the bible that said

"Set up an NGO to traffic millions of people, and profit, for Rome needs a Tesla Model Y, so sayeth the lord."

I don't think NGOs or Teslas existed in Jesus' time, so you're probably right.

Trump likes both books of the Bible equally so keep that in mind when developing your own thoughts on the matter first. Thank you.

Jesus is also mentioned in the Koran with high regard as one of the greatest prophets and messengers of God but rejects His divinity and the trinity.

We will see how far Trump and his minion can go with the Pope bashing. Sleepy Joe is one thing. But Trump can't help himself and I don't think he or his followers are finished with taking down the Pope quite yet.

I very much doubt this is true, especially since Trump's approval has been steadily sinking.

I think you would be shocked, that most of America doesn't actually agree with the last 3 Popes very much.

I'll give you Francis, but Benedict, and John Paul II were well liked, especially JPII. Perhaps you are thinking of conservative Protestants and Evangelicals, who have historically disliked Catholics.

Leo has been pretty popular. You probably don't know, because he is being vilified in MAGA circles, but he spoke against mass migration, in a positive manner, telling young Africans to stay home and rebuild their country, and he also recently condemned the abuses of communism in 1930s Spain.

Quote:

As of early 2026, Pope Leo XIVthe first U.S.-born popeenjoys exceptionally high popularity among American Catholics, with approval ratings reaching up to 84% in late 2025. Despite tensions and public attacks from President Trump regarding foreign policy, Pope Leo remains widely favored, maintaining higher approval ratings than the president among U.S. Catholics. Former FBI Director James Comey posted the photo of seashells arranged as "86 47" on his Instagram account on May 15, 2025. The image, which was captioned "Cool shell formation on my beach walk," was interpreted by some as a threat to "86" (get rid of) the 47th President and was later deleted.

Date Posted:
May 15, 2025.

Controversy:
The numbers "86 47" were interpreted as a threat to "86" (nix/get rid of) the 47th President.

Result:
Comey removed the post the same day, stating he did not realize the association with violence.

Aftermath:
The post led to a federal investigation and ultimately an indictment of Comey in April 2026.
