The US and UK Demand a Long War: Fighting Russia with Ukrainians
"In late March 2022, Zelensky revealed in an interview with the Economist that "There are those in the West who don't mind a long war because it would mean exhausting Russia, even if this means the demise of Ukraine and comes at the cost of Ukrainian lives".[6]
"The Israeli and Turkish mediators confirmed that Ukraine and Russia were both eager to make a compromise to end the war before the US and the UK intervened to prevent peace from breaking out."
"Zelensky had contacted former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to mediate the peace negotiations with Moscow. Bennett noted that Putin was willing to make "huge concessions" if Ukraine would restore its neutrality to end NATO expansion. Zelensky accepted this condition and "both sides very much wanted a ceasefire". However, Bennett argued that the US and UK then intervened and "blocked" the peace agreement as they favoured a long war."

More opinion from former paid RT contributor Glenn Diesen. A lot of this hinges on how much you believe Putin's promises were real, which I do not.
Your stance is based on superficial takes that completely ignore the history and demography of Ukraine, and on a comic book take of Putin as the "bad hombre" a la 1939.
However, seasoned, smart foreign policy actors like Bill Clinton and Obama have stated that Putin has always kept his word:
Your stance also ignores the reality of this war, and these basic facts :
-Ukraine has already lost 1.5M KIAs and is still losing men at a very high rate
-Ukraine cannot
possibly win this war of attrition
-The majority Russian territories that Russia has annexed don't want to be part of a Ukraine that wants to erase their culture
- The majority of soldiers in Ukraine are being forcibly conscripted, with ever increasing violence, they are now using guns against the families and neighbors of men being forcibly captured:
It is not in Ukraine's interest to continue fighting, Zelensky's alliance of oligarchs, war profiteers and ultranationalists do not represent the average Ukrainian.
The deal offered by the Russians, which boils down to freezing the borders, NATO out of Ukraine and basic rights to minorities inside Ukraine, is a reasonable one. The alternative being hundreds of thousands more Ukrainian KIAs and more territory annexed by Russia over the next 2 years, they will annex all of the remaining Russian-speaking areas of Ukraine.
