The older you get, the larger the pool of good looking women gets. I think Kamala Harris is a very nice looking woman from where I stand.

However, now I must take back my comments on the pants suit. Her usual pants suit would be a much better look than this sack, which someone must have found for her in a Goodwill Thrift Shop or equal. The leggings or shoes further detract from Kamala, the lady. She has a very pretty face. She or her dressmaker just don't have very good taste in clothes, unfortunately, in my humble opinion.

What do you like to wear.
Some of us would like to be the judge if your fashion choices.

What has what I like to wear got to do with this? Are you implying that I am trans?

My fashion choices? Look, kiddo, I am probably a generation older than Kamala, and you, as well. So I don't choose clothes for style. I choose 'em for warmth. I am freezing cold at home right now, with a broken thermostat. I am wearing 5 layers of clothing: tee shirt, polo, flannel shirt, chamois shirt, and bathrobe. That is the top half of my outfit. Bottom half is Depend, flannel pajama trouser, and gym-grade sweat pants, and compression stockings. Feet: two pairs of heavy merino wool stockings, sandals at home, New Balance sneakers on the street. At Church or formal events, I am coat and tie, suit or sportjacket and slacks, with some expensive composition shoes that look more like leather than like rubber.

When I dine with a lady for lunch or dinner, that is one of the few times I think about fashion. In that case, I ditch the bathrobe, and wear the flannel on the outside. (For a more formal place, I will go coat and tie) I buy the flannels and chamois shirts from LL Bean, in Maine, where it is a lot colder than San Francisco, and they are warm. For the street, a 650 down jacket, and a Cal Bears wool knit cap. In summer, an SF Giants cap. I have an old REI down jacket for the colder weather.

As for fashion today, where do we see evidence of that? I was down in the financial district a few weeks ago at lunch time, and I didn't see a single man wearing a coat and necktie. The dress today is jeans, tee shirt, sweat shirt, or hoodie, and sneakers, and most popular colors are black clothing and white or multi-colored sneakers. Leather shoes mostly disappeared. Over 90% of people I see today wear black. Not smart, but fashionable now. I can't believe how many pedestrians wear black at night. I've stopped counting all the narrow escapes I've had as a pedestrian.

If I do go out at night, I too, will opt for black. Maybe a black ski cap, hoodie or a black mask, and sneakers. I try to look like the rest of San Franciscans, and at night, that means kids out partying, muggers out mugging, and the beggars and homeless doing what they do.

Way to rock the LLBean (not to mention REI)! I gotta whole closet full. Next up for me is their "storm fleece" hoodie, which I'm waiting to come on sale. When I recently got an LLBean rain jacket for my daughter, my wife told me that LLBean is a "lesbian brand", to which I replied... 1) LLBean is an east coast preppie brand; you must be thinking of Subaru... and... 2) Wait, you're very pro-LGBTQ: Do you know what the "L" in there stands for? Hint: kind of rhymes with "thespian".

8 skiers found dead

https://abc7news.com/post/6-backcountry-skiers-rescued-9-missing-avalanche-donner-pass-sierra-nevada-california-officials/18616251/

Why?

Storm Skiing" Culture: In backcountry communities, "storm days" are often sought after because heavy snowfall replenishes tracks and provides "powder" conditions that enthusiasts dream of. Some clients may have even viewed the weather as a selling point for an "exhilarating" experience.

Reliance on Professional Guides: The tour outfit's marketing promised to "manage the risks" and "find the best terrain and snow quality," which may have led clients to trust the guides' judgment despite the forecast.

The trans line bust me up!

Here I was scolding him for judging her looks, and he goes there. Classic!!

As for his attire…. You know I've been taking care of mom since early December. Mixed dementia and positive for Alzheimer's. She was living in a complete pig sty, rodent infestation and one side of house broken hvac, the other was just going nonstop costing oodles of money.

Her attire was … concerning.

So, SFCity, he of soda pop delivery theft as a kid, had me concerned with the 5 layer look, complete with chamois shirt - which I think dates back to 1975 if im not mistaken.

Stay safe, my friend!
I think if you can still post here you are doing fine. Mom can no longer operate the remote.

And my personal recommendation for anyone in this realm: JubileeTV.
Ask me and I'll give a (positive) review!

The entire state of California is officially out of drought this year.

As you can see, most of the other western states are still in drought conditions but CA is nice and moist!

SFCB had me at "bathrobe."

As you might have guessed, there is a story to the bathrobe.

It was Christmas Eve, about 25-30? years ago, a cold and rainy night, when I dipped into the local Walgreens for some items. In the gifts department, there was a small rack of clothes for sale, shirts and jackets, I think, and this one bathrobe was on sale. It was dull blue terrycloth look-a-like, and felt warm. I lived in a house with a lot of glass, and it was always freezing cold when I exited the shower in the morning. This robe might be a solution. Especially when I saw the price: 3 Simoleans! ("Bucks" for the youngsters who might read this)

I've had to do a couple of very minor repairs with needle and thread, but I expect it to last 10-20 years more.

I've only seen that material once before. In 1984, I got laid off from Bechtel, and I hopped a plane for London, hoping to catch up with some friends who were bumming around Europe. I have a cousin living in Thornton Heath, near London, and she took me shopping at some local department stores. I bought a sharp black jacket, which was lined with the material which had the same look and feel as the robe I would buy several years later. I don't remember the price, but it was dirt cheap. And really warm, and water proof. The outside of the jacket finally began to tear, and my tailor/sweat shop operator and seamstress, Sofia, says she can't repair it. So I have to part with it, after 42 years. Good Will and the Salvation Army won't take it, but I know it will keep some homeless person warm, so I plan to go undercover (bad pun) and deliver to a deserving-looking lost soul to keep him warm at night.

I forgot to mention I get my wool socks also from LL Bean. Best I could find. The others I tried, got balled up, and I had to toss 'em.
And who are you calling "very pro-LGBTQ"? I can't even remember what the letters mean, let alone give 'em the "pro" designation. And as far as that goes, I think the term was expanded to include many more letters and groups, I can't even name. So we are both pretty out of date, if we use that term today, aren't we?

I reminded my wife that she was "very pro-LGBTQ" when she derogatorily called LL Bean a "lesbian brand".

The current iteration of this initialism, for those interested in keeping up, is LGBTQIS+, with the "+" there as a catch-all for everything else. However, it seems only a matter of time before some of the "+" groups may start to feel marginalized, so I'm expecting more letters at some point.

It reminds me of "BIPOC". Good grief. And then the Dems -- of whom I am one -- wonder why they (we) lose elections.

Here, let me help educate you.

Patients with metastatic prostate cancer can live another 4 - 5 years from their date of diagnosis.

Dr. Herbert Lepor who specializes in urologic oncology at NY Langone is even more optimistic.
He told Reuters that patients with metastatic prostate cancer can survive "5 to 10 years and beyond"

Hope this helps educate you from the typical rubbish that gets posted on Twitter.
Thanks.

Geez
I was thinking a week ago it would be a drought summer with no snowpack having accumulated.

Are you suggesting we are out of that zone???

The entire state of California is officially out of drought this year.

As you can see, most of the other western states are still in drought conditions but CA is nice and moist!

Wow. This is hard to believe. It has not rained or snowed much from my vantage/experience.
Only two weeks of precipitation

It rained a lot in December, then a dry January, now it's raining again in February.

It will be hard to decide which Post of the Year Nominee to cast my vote for. Incredible you got two on the same page!

I think we should frame your jacket in the BI hall of frame. Don't give it away.

Yeah, I didn't think December was all that much and I don't think this last week has been all that much.

Yeah, I didn't think December was all that much and I don't think this last week has been all that much.

I think what matters is the water content of the Sierra snowpack. A week or two of heavy snow can make a tremendous difference
