What I find truly remarkable about your post is how easily you are able to succumb to turning this into a nice, neat, little box of partisan politics and Democrats vs Republicans, even using the TDS card.

For some puzzling reason, you conveniently ignore the FACT that Trump ran his election campaign primarily on an American First! doctrine and being the peace president with No New Wars.

I would imagine that there are a large number of those 77 million voters that voted for Trump in 2024 and believed his campaign promises . . . particularly America First! and No New Wars.

I would also imagine that many of them feel betrayed now.
But instead of mentioning this, you do nothing more than default to Dems vs Republicans.

Shocker.

One big tell of your most egregious instances of mendacity on this board is when you reply to a post without quoting it (or quoting it only in part), like you did above. When I see that, I know a lie or dodge is embedded in your response. The above is exactly that.

I said nothing about democrats vs republicans. I simply pointed out that many, like you, seem to be rooting against Trump when that means rooting against our country. You could disabuse me of that notion by simply posting "I hope Trump's military action is successful and that there is regime change in Iran to a more pro-western government." Can you say that?

Beyond that, I was pointing out the hypocrisy of many on this board when it comes to gas prices. You, again, are exhibit A for that since you love to post random pictures of high gas prices and then blame trump even though CA gas prices have been absurdly high since forever. And when you know that the gas prices will return to normal as soon as the military action is over.

Regarding the substance of your post - because unlike you I will respond - Trump also ran on the platform that Iran would not obtain a nuclear bomb under his watch. Just like all of the presidents since Reagan. Trump's America First platform is consistent with that - if you believe Iran having a bomb (or for that matter ballistic missiles) is against America's vital interest. Clearly Trump believes that, since his platform has always said as such.

My guess is that 80-90% of Americans don't want Iran to have nukes with missiles that reach Europe and the USA. If you and dem politicians choose to be on the other side of that issue, god bless you. So I'll ask directly - do you feel that Iran having a nuclear bomb and/or ballistic missiles that can reach Europe or the USA is an acceptable risk for the USA?

Some of Trump's supporters are upset with the Iran military action. They are in the minority. Recent polls suggest that 80%+ of republicans support Trump's Iran actions. That will change if: (i) there are mass American casualties; (ii) the hostilities drag on for more than a few months; and/or (iii) there are ground troops inserted for anything more than special forces missions.

tldr.

And you wonder why people on the right don't take you seriously here. He actually responded to your post and you say that. Or you read it and you don't have a snappy comeback so you play dumb

The ultimate keyboard warrior. When challenged, he dodges and is unable to defend his claims. And then he tattles to the board moderators because people are mean or posting too much. It is actually sad.

Cool story
That's never happened.

I've never FLAGGED anyone here because my feelings were hurt like one poster invariably does here.
In fact, they've done it so much that a moderator PM'd them to stop flagging everyone.

Tell ya what . . . I will make it easier for you and just put you on ignore.
That way you don't have to post anymore "essays" in my direction.

Amazing to me how many liberals are literally unable to engage with opinions they disagree with. There is a person in my family who can't wait to share their strongly left political views (always started a political discussion) and then if someone disagrees or seeks to debate, they are too triggered to engage and immediately stop the discussion (often with tears or anger). Literally too much of a snowflake to contemplate they might be wrong.

I can't imagine coming to this off topic board - for the school where the free speech movement was born - taking political positions, and then refusing to debate them. Apparently some people just want to be in their bubble and have their views repeated back to them.

Beargoggles: rooting against Trump means rooting against our country

Also Beargoggles: why won't anyone engage with me?

Here are some other things Beargoggles said when Biden was President that may sound familiar right now.

"All Presidents are faced with these issues and are responsible for how they act once they take office"

"Biden has botched this beyond belief. . . Not coordinating with our closest allies, not listening to the intelligence he was given (or ignoring and lying about it)."

"And most shamefully, his administration has refused to unequivocally state they will protect all US citizens. . . that is truly unprecedented and an abrogation of Biden's most basic duty"

Experts estimate that it could take two ships per tanker, or a dozen ships to guard convoys of 5 - 10 tankers to have the necessary air defenses for escort.

The short distances involved make shooting down missiles and drones more difficult

No wonder why we aren't "encouraging" ships to move thru the Strait in order to provide more insight as some have claimed.

No wonder why Trump is asking for help from our Allies in order to secure the Strait.

DiabloWags

Bryan Clark, at the Hudson institute and a veteran naval officer estimates that alongside warships, it would require at least a dozen MQ-9 Reaper Drones patrolling the skies and striking iranian missile and drone launchers when they pop up on the coast.

That sounds like thousands of soldiers and sailors in a pretty sizable investment of money that might have to be committed for months.

Never mind "repurposing" the task of ships already in the theater, taking them out of offensive roles or broader missile defense.
DiabloWags

I have read that delays caused by security measures and the number of available warships to reduce tanker traffic through the Strait to 10% of its normal level, according to Lloyd's List Intelligence.

At that rate, it would take months to clear a backlog of more than 600 international trading ships stuck in the Gulf.

The Iranians have already shot over a dozen Reapers, they have developed a new loitering missile specifically designed to take out drones and tankers, the 358s and 359s.

Man, they really stick to that propaganda line. Anyway, the notion of long-term gain from another American war in the Middle East is offensive. In 5 years, every BI MAGA will swear they were never the war hawks that they are revealing themselves to be at this moment.

Can't take the heat then stay out of the kitchen

Amazing to me how many liberals are literally unable to engage with opinions they disagree with. There is a person in my family who can't wait to share their strongly left political views (always started a political discussion) and then if someone disagrees or seeks to debate, they are too triggered to engage and immediately stop the discussion (often with tears or anger). Literally too much of a snowflake to contemplate they might be wrong.

I can't imagine coming to this off topic board - for the school where the free speech movement was born - taking political positions, and then refusing to debate them. Apparently some people just want to be in their bubble and have their views repeated back to them.

Places like Bluesky and Mastodon could never have existed without this phenomenon. I guess probably Threads now as well.

Products like jet fuel, fuel oil, diesel, and naphtha have risen in price much more than crude due to supply disruptions.

Never mind the fact that American farmers get 80% of their Potash from Canada....our neighbor to the north that we are on exceptionally good terms with, due to the "bully" in the White House.

US/Israel now targeting Iranian oil and gas infrastructure, Iran striking GCC facilities. Look for oil prices to soar.

There is a gas shortage in several Asian countries right now that has been pushing prices up in the region.

I recall that someone here said two weeks ago that we have so much oil and refining capacity in the U.S. that prices would never get above $4.00 a gallon.

You mean the oil companies would never gouge the consumer?

How naive.
