The war may benefit what Netanyahu believes to be his (and maybe Israel's) best interests, but he is mistaken, IMO. Same with his ham-handed response to October 7th.
Israels best bet is to continue to build coalitions with some of the other countries in the Middle East and Persian Gulf and to stop trying to acquire territory with the "settlements". A lot of those countries are not radical and wouldn't mind living in peace and prosperity.
Netanyahu is a remnant of the post-Holocaust "old school", where, to survive, the thought was that Israel always had to be strong and tough and never back down from any opposition.
