How many mines does it take to shut down the straight of Hormuz? A question posed by a former Navy Sub Offficer and Cal grad. He was part of a mine safety team during the Iraq war.
FYI he "was a mine planning officer for a short period and went to mine warfare school for fun in between deployments"

And what was the answer?

zero

There are mines, US Navy is out there clearing them

that wasn't the question nor the answer.

Welcome to the wonderful world of MAGA.

I've noticed that MAGA has very poor reading comprehension. Sad really.

In all fairness, they knew Taco Tuesday was on a Tuesday. They were likely just seeking clarification from a demented old man. The whole thing is sad.

Notice that MAGA is easily confused.
Even when it comes to DAYS OF THE WEEK.

They are always seeking clarification on the basics.
The whole thing is sad.

Can be zero. The threat of mines (or drones or whatever) can be enough to keep ships from going through.

This is another tweet escalation to get a "deal" but the Iranians read Trump better than he does. The price of oil rises as does potential conflict with oil heading to Asia and allies.

Iran and the IRGC are clearly playing the long game.
Wouldn't you if you were them?

Iran has maintained their Sovereignty.
They have not been invaded.
That's a WIN in their eyes.

They also understand that the American people aren't backing this War of "choice" and Trump needs an offramp.

There are already jet fuel shortages in Europe.

And gas prices may be "cheap" compared to where they could go if the Strait doesnt get opened quickly.

The rescue operation was a sideshow from a bigger operation to retrieve enriched uranium near the airfield where a forward base was being set up. The operation failed with planes being shot down or bombed on the ground. They didn't disclose the real casualty figure from that operation.

As a result of this, the land invasion plan looks less likely, though with the clown crew in the WH, who knows what they will try to do next.

The world just... switched suppliers? Like changing your internet provider?

Iran played its biggest card and the main result is that the United States became the world's emergency gas station and China's cheap energy subsidy evaporated.

That's how gas prices go up for U.S. consumers because Trump got the Straight of Hormuz shut. Domestic oil producers will gladly send oil to Asia for a higher price. U.S. consumers will have to compete on price globally. RIP CPI. Sadly most MAGA don't understand how markets work. They only know what Trump tells them.

Temporarily, yes, but the Strait won't be closed forever.
